The Ottawa Senators placed starting goaltender Linus Ullmark on injured reserve Thursday due to a lower-body injury.
The injury occurred Wednesday night in the third period of Ottawa’s 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers. Ullmark was replaced by backup Samuel Ersson.
Ersson is expected to take over as the Senators’ primary goaltender. Ottawa recalled Jonas Johansson from Belleville of the American Hockey League. Johansson was acquired in a September trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Ullmark, 33, is off to a strong start to the 2026-27 season, posting a 7-1-0 record with a .945 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average.
Before leaving Wednesday’s game, he stopped 17 of 18 shots.
Ersson, 27, has appeared in four games, going 0-2 with a .831 save percentage and a 4.70 goals-against average.
