Freddie Freeman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Los Angeles Dodgers cruised to a 12-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
Alex Call went 2-for-4 with a solo homer for Los Angeles, which will attempt to complete a three-game series sweep on Wednesday. Max Muncy hit a two-run double, and Andy Pages finished 3-for-5 with an RBI as the Dodgers piled up 17 hits to match their season high.
Victor Caratini and Brooks Lee each hit a solo home run for Minnesota.
Dodgers left-hander Justin Wrobleski (9-2) held the Twins to two runs on five hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Twins right-hander Austin Voth (0-1) surrendered six runs (five earned) on 11 hits in four innings of relief. He fanned two and walked one.
The Dodgers opened the scoring in the top of the first. Shohei Ohtani drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a walk to Pages and came home on Tommy Edman’s two-out single to center.
The Twins pulled even on Caratini’s solo shot in the second.
A defensive miscue by the Twins opened the door for the Dodgers to grab a 2-1 lead in the third. Freeman hit a one-out double, and he scored two batters later on a throwing error by second baseman Luke Keaschall.
Minnesota matched Los Angeles in the bottom of the frame when Josh Bell hit an RBI single to score Byron Buxton.
The Dodgers took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth.
Ohtani delivered a sacrifice fly to drive in the go-ahead run. Freeman followed with an RBI single, and Mookie Betts put the Dodgers on top 5-2 with an RBI single moments later.
Freeman continued his big night with an RBI double in the sixth to make it 6-2.
Los Angeles took a five-run lead in the seventh. Chuckie Robinson laid down a safety squeeze bunt to score Call from third.
The Dodgers erupted for five insurance runs in the ninth. Call hit a leadoff homer, Miguel Rojas clubbed an RBI double and Pages tallied an RBI single to make it 10-2. Muncy capped the big inning with his two-run double to right.
Lee finished the scoring with a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth.
