Tye Kartye and Will Cuylle scored twice as the New York Rangers remained unbeaten on home ice by pulling away for a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night.
The Rangers improved to 4-0-0 at home, playing their first game since losing star goaltender Igor Shesterkin to a season-ending lower-body injury in Friday’s 3-1 loss at Washington.
Kartye had his second career two-goal game after scoring twice for the Rangers on April 15, 2026 at Tampa Bay. He scored 27 seconds into the contest and snapped a 2-2 tie with 95 seconds left in the second period.
Cuylle scored early in the second period and with 4:38 remaining in the third for his fifth career two-goal game as the Rangers won for the fifth time in seven games to start the season.
J.T. Miller set up Kartye’s two goals while Alexis Lafreniere scored a power-play goal and had an assist on his 25th birthday. Gabe Perreault added a goal and an assist in the third and Mika Zibanejad had assists on New York’s first two goals of the final period.
Dylan Garand made 19 saves since being elevated to New York’s No. 1 goaltender following Shesterkin’s injury.
Jake DeBrusk scored in the first period and defenseman Elias Pettersson netted a short-handed goal in the second shortly before Kartye’s second tally as the Canucks dropped their fourth straight.
Vancouver goalie Kevin Lankinen allowed six goals on 25 shots
The Rangers opened the scoring when Kartye swooped in for a rebound of Miller’s shot and converted the easy tap-in.
After DeBrusk’s one-timer from the right circle tied it with 2:56 left, Cuylle gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead 2:09 into the second by gliding by Vancouver forward Linus Karlsson and lifting a shot from above the right circle past Lankinen.
Following Pettersson’s shot from the left circle on a rush, Kartye snapped the tie by getting a cross-ice feed from Miller, skating past Max Sasson and ripping a shot above the right faceoff dot past Lankinen.
Lafreniere extended the lead on the power play 64 seconds into the third when he dove for a loose puck and tapped it by Lankinen, who was out of position after colliding with a teammate.
Perreault extended the margin to 5-2 nearly six minutes into the third by re-directing Adam Fox’s shot into the net, while Cuylle converted a pass from Eeli Tolvanen to finish it off.
