Owen Power scored with 37.4 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-2 comeback victory over the visiting Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
Noah Ostlund and Tage Thompson also scored one goal apiece for Buffalo, which won its second game in a row. Power, a defenseman, finished with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Colten Ellis stopped 18 of 20 shots to earn the victory.
Danila Yurov and Maxim Shabanov scored one goal apiece for Minnesota, while goaltender Jesper Wallstedt allowed three goals on 28 shots.
Jiri Kulich set up the winning goal in the final minute of overtime. He saw Power streaking toward the slot and zipped a pass to him. Power finished the play with a low wrist shot that beat Wallstedt on the stick side.
The game remained scoreless until midway through the second period.
Yurov broke the stalemate with a power-play goal with 6:07 to go in the second period. Jared Spurgeon slid a pass from near the blue line to Yurov, who blasted a one-timer from the right circle for his first goal of the season.
Minnesota made it 2-0 less than two minutes later. Quinn Hughes carried the puck into the offensive zone and tried a shot that did not get through. Shabanov cleaned it up moments later when he found the loose puck and fired a wrist shot into the net.
The Sabres got on the scoreboard with 16:05 remaining in the third period. Power handled the puck and spotted Ostlund open near the crease, and Ostlund converted on the close-range opportunity for his first goal of the season and the 12th of his career.
Buffalo evened the score at 2-all with 10:22 to go in the third period. Thompson buried a one-timer from the slot before Wallstedt could recover.
Wild forward Nick Foligno left the game in the first period because of an upper-body injury and did not return. The 38-year-old has one goal in three games this season.
